Philip Memmer
Poet, publisher, and teacher Philip Memmer is the author of six books of poems, including four from Lost Horse Press: Cairns (2022); Pantheon (2019); The Storehouses of the Snow: Psalms, Parables and Dreams (2012); and Lucifer: A Hagiography (2009), which was awarded the 2008 Idaho Prize for Poetry. His previous collections are Threat of Pleasure (WordTech Communications, 2008), winner of an Adirondack Literary Award for Poetry; and Sweetheart, Baby, Darling (WordTech Communications, 2004). His honors include a 2023 Individual Artist Fellowship from the New York State Council on the Arts.
Memmer lives in upstate New York, where he serves as district executive director for arts and education at the YMCA of Central New York. In 2001, he founded the YMCA’s Downtown Writers Center, a literary arts center in downtown Syracuse. He also serves as publisher at Tiger Bark Press and teaches literature and creative writing at Hamilton College.
