Robert Schechter writes poetry for children, light verse, and is a translator. His first collection of children's poems, The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others, was published in April 2023. His poems and translations have appeared in Highlights for Children, Cricket, Ladybug, Spider, The Caterpillar, The Washington Post, The Spectator, Salon, The School Magazine, The Paris Review Online, The Evansville Review, and other journals as well as numerous anthologies. Schechter won the 2016 XJ Kennedy Parody Award and the 2019 Willis Barnstone Translation Prize.
