Robert Schechter writes poetry for children, light verse, and is a translator. His first collection of children's poems, The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others, was published in April 2023. His poems and trans­la­tions have appeared in High­lights for Chil­dren, Cricket, Ladybug, Spider, The Caterpillar, The Wash­ing­ton Post, The Spec­ta­tor, Salon, The School Magazine, The Paris Review Online, The Evans­ville Review, and other journals as well as numerous anthologies. Schechter won the 2016 XJ Kennedy Parody Award and the 2019 Willis Barnstone Translation Prize.
