Saaret E. Yoseph (she/her) is an Ethiopian American writer and a multidisciplinary artist. Her work has been featured in HuffPost; The Rumpus; The Root; The Washington Post; CNN; and The Reporter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where she penned the column “Chronicles of a Diaspora Kid.”
In 2014, Yoseph made her directorial debut with Red Line DC, an independent documentary that explored gentrification and graffiti in her hometown of Washington, D.C. She went on to produce programming and content related to the film in collaboration with institutions including CommonLit, the Environmental Film Festival, HumanitiesDC, Meridian Hill Pictures, and the Google Cultural Institute.
Yoseph’s project JOURNEY(S) combines documentary interviews with poetry to create a docu-poem anthology that honors the voices of Ethiopian women who migrated from Addis Ababa to Washington, D.C., prior to and during the 1980s.
Yoseph earned an MA in Communication, Culture, & Technology from Georgetown University and a BA in English and Africana studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
