Susan Wan Dolling

Susan Wan Dolling is a Chinese American poet, novelist, translator, independent scholar, essayist, and artist. She is the author of  My China in Tang Poetry: Stories and Translations (Earnshaw Books, 2024). 

Her short stories and translations have been published in Poetry, The Write Launch, the Columbia Anthology of Modern Chinese Literature (Columbia University Press, 2007), Family Catastrophes (University Hawaii Press, 1995), Bamboo Shoots After the Rain: Contemporary Stories by Women Writers of Taiwan (Feminist Press, 1993), and many other publications. 

Dolling was born and raised in Hong Kong and studied in Japan for two years. She earned a BA in English and creative writing and a PhD in comparative literature from Princeton. She has taught at several universities, including Fordham University and the University of Texas at Austin. She lives in Austin, Texas.
