Taj el-Sir el-Hassan

Poet and university professor Taj el-Sir el-Hassan was born in Artoli, northern Sudan. He graduated from al-Azhar in 1960 and from the Maxim Gorki Literature Institute in 1966. His poetry collections include Poems from Sudan (co-authored with Jayli Abdel Rahman, 1965), A Green Heart (1968), Two Poems for Palestine (1991), and Poetry in the Time of Oppression. Some of his poems appeared in Modern Sudanese Poetry: An Anthology (University of Nebraska Press, 2019).
