Tariq Thompson

Tariq Thompson (he/they) is a poet and an educator from Memphis, Tennessee, and author of the chapbook Lone Lily (Sunset Press, 2021). Their poetry has appeared in the American Poetry Review, The Adroit Journal, Sixth Finch, wildness, the Academy of American Poets, Poemhood: Our Black Revival (HarperCollins, 2024), and elsewhere. Thompson is a finalist for a 2023 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship and was awarded the 2020 Adroit Prize for Poetry and the 2023 Palette Poetry Previously Published Poem Prize.

Thompson earned his BA in English from Kenyon College. He is an MFA candidate at New York University.
