Vladislav Zanadvorov

1914—1942

Russian geologist, poet, and novelist Vladislav Zanadvorov was born in the town of Perm, Russia. He attended a technical high school and then traveled frequently on geological expeditions throughout Russia. After publishing a novella in 1932, he published Prostora (The Expanse), his first and only poetry collection, in 1941, a year before he was conscripted into the Red Army. He was noted for his attention to national history and historical motifs in his poetry.

Zanadvorov was killed in 1942 while attacking a German machine gunner. He was 28 years old.
