Joan Horton
Children’s poet Joan Horton was raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and educated at the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut, where she earned a BA and an MSW. Her humorous, narrative children’s poems often incorporate elements of surprise and fantasy. She is the author of several books of poetry for children, including Working Mummies (2012, illustrated by Drazen Kozjan), Math Attack! (2009, illustrated by Kyrsten Brooker), Halloween Hoots and Howls (1999, illustrated by JoAnn Adinolfi), and Hippopotamus Stew and Other Silly Animal Poems (2006, illustrated by JoAnn Adinolfi). Her work is also featured in the anthology Miles of Smiles: Kids Pick the Funniest Poems, Book #3 (1998). Horton lives in Glastonbury.
