Marissa Davis

Marissa Davis (she/her) is a poet and translator from Paducah, Kentucky. Davis is the winner of a 2024 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship, and in 2023, she received an Emerging Translator Mentorship Fellowship from the American Literary Translators Association. Her chapbook, My Name & Other Languages I Am Learning How to Speak (Jai-Alai Books, 2020) was selected for Cave Canem’s 2019 Toi Derricotte & Cornelius Eady Prize. Davis’s poetry has been published in Prairie Schooner, Poetry, Poem-a-Day, Gulf Coast, Narrative, Quarterly West, and other journals. Her translations are published in Atlanta Review, The Massachusetts Review, The Common, and The Offing, among others.

Davis earned a BA from Vanderbilt University, where she was a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar, and an MFA from New York University, where she was a Rona Jaffe Graduate Fellow. She spent two years between degrees teaching English in France. After several years in Brooklyn, New York, she again lives in Paris, France, where she is pursuing a master’s in translation at the Sorbonne Nouvelle.
