Rebecca Seiferle
Poet, translator, and editor Rebecca Seiferle earned a BA from SUNY and an MFA from Warren Wilson College. Her collections of poetry include The Ripped-Out Seam (1993), which was a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize; The Music We Dance To (1999), winner of the Cecil Hemley Award from the Poetry Society of America; Bitters (2001), which won both the Western States Book Award and a Pushcart Prize; and Wild Tongue (2007), winner of the Grub Street National Poetry Prize. She has translated poets such as César Vallejo, Alfonso D'Aquino, and Ernesto Lumbreras. Seiferle is the editor and publisher of the online literary magazine Drunken Boat, and her reviews have appeared in Harvard Review and Calyx, among others.
Seiferle has been awarded a Lannan Foundation Poetry Fellowship and in 2012 was named the poet laureate of Tucson, Arizona. A teacher and advocate for literacy, she has served as board president for the community writers’ forum Casa Libre en la Solana and taught workshops for middle- and high-school students. She currently teaches at the Southwest University of Visual Arts and lives in Tucson.
