In the dew-saturated foot-high blades
            of grass, we stand amongst a sea

of foals, mare and foal, mare and foal,
            all over the soft hillside there are twos,

small duos ringing harmoniously...

I have seen deer split open on the road and thought

that’s exactly what
those

soft and gentle
fuckers

deserve.

Some things happened to me in my formative years that I don’t want to tell you about
but some things happened to you too.

I watch her mouth move, and I stumble over
the makings of her sound to get close to her.

I’ve lost all my favorite tusbax and scarves
in rooms half lit & full of vowels touching teeth.

The twisting of the tongue means nothing...
